This worked for me in Ubuntu and Linux Mint and I presume it would work in most (Gnome-based) Linux distributions.
The information on the web often seems overly complicated for installing fonts and it’s actually really simple.
The folder you need to copy the fonts into is located at /usr/share/fonts/truetype however you can’t just open this folder [...]
